Forgive me if I am behind but has there been something in the news re CTC? Or is it still just the CB?

Being brave starting a thread, as I am quite possibly well behind!

DH just mentioned something about the CTC being stopped for SAHM? Is that correct? I am aware about the changes of CB and we are lucky that (or unlucky depends what way you look at it!) that DH wages are no where near the cut off.

He just quickly rang from work and heard something on radio, couldn't talk as he's out delivering.

Blush in advance Grin

It is in plain English and a quick Google of the term 'income disregard' gets you all kinds of back-up info. The most frightening thing in the world is ignorance... so seek out the information before you start panicking.

gaelicsheep · 06/10/2010 21:20

Mine has. Not without some scary enquiries from the Preston office though. You have 3 months to claim CB for a new baby right? So why waste taxpayers money by checking the database after two months and then writing to us to demand birth certificate (which we couldn't send because it was with CB people). AAARGH! Who designs the business processes for this bunch or morons?!

CoinOperatedGirl · 06/10/2010 21:20

Well I never, I had no clue about that income disregard thing. Dp has a pay rise, was going to tell them now, but I won't bother now, cheers Mr Cameron (yah boo sucks).

sanfairyann · 06/10/2010 21:20

exactly

mind you don't forget they are morons who don't know the difference between dla and incapacity benefit (whats its new name?)

That was to Riven.

Why not just get rid of CB and add it onto CTC? That way higher earning families don't get it and there's a taper. Why did they not do that?

sanfairyann · 06/10/2010 21:23

then it wouldn't be a universal benefit any more

oh hang on

no sorry don't know why they didn't do that? cos they is thick?

this will hit poorer families and have a greater impact than CB, as will the HB limit but because CB affects the twitterati, it has caused far more outrage this article in the guardian today was a good example

Chil1234 · 06/10/2010 21:25

It's what I've been saying all along. Scrap CB as a separate payment, assess everyone on the CTC model (because anyone with a household income of

Chil1234 · 06/10/2010 21:38

@duckyfuzz what is it that 'will hit poorer families'?... The CTC change in January that bars claimants with a household income over £40k?

madmissy · 06/10/2010 21:52
