Jamie's Food Revolution

I think I am a bit behind the times here, but I watched Jamie's Food Revolution (USA) last night, and was so shocked.

Those 6 year olds did not even know what a tomato was! What hope is there of getting them to eat 'real' food when they can't even identify the ingredients?

Do you think it is like that in parts of the UK too?

If you are poor you are less likely to be able to make it to the big supermarkets with big colourful produce sections though. The shops on the local estates are hardly inspiring. Nor are they cheap. And certainly not filled with lush vegetables.

Are you saying that people who live on estates don't ever leave them? Never run across a Tesco? Don't have tellies with Tesco commecrials?

I am shocked at how dreadful that way of life must be for more reasons than nutrition.

Surely the children still go to school?

Most formula feeders I know did not realise that it is made from cows' milk. Hmm

I was a FF and I knew exactly what it was made from.

Agree that processed foods are a problem, not just with the salt, but with the preservatives etc that go in them. Cooking isn't hard, I do it from scratch most nights, and I hated cooking at school in the 80s.
