Why would you get rid of arguably your best player (Ashley Cole the only one who could be reasonably argued to be better than him) from your team?
and
"Funny how it's irrelevant about their sexual misdemenours, but their charity work is relevant. Why is one worth mentioning but the other not?"
The players who's sexual misdemeanours have been highlighted are not irrelevant to branding those particular players as knobs but equally players charitable works are relevant when people come out with such sweeping generalisations as "why are they such utter dicks?" and the insinuation that footballers as a whole are pricks "It's not a few bad apples, it's institutionalised mysogyny. ".
Some are some aren't, why not simply focus on the individuals who you are berating.
About a year ago Adebayor gave up 3 million of his own cash to build a hospital near his home town in the Ivory Coast, Jamie Carragher does a huge amount of work with kids from Liverpool, Dirk Kuyt has a big role in a homeless charity back in Holland.
As you say yourself "Why is one worth mentioning but the other not?", well that's exactly what threads like this are doing, mentioning one bad aspect of certain footballers without mentioning the good aspects of a similar amount. That was my only argument, don't say all footballers are dicks etc. and completely ignore all the good work that a lot of them do.
I never said, don't mention their infidelities, all I said was that if you are going to start a thread about Rooney and extrrapulate that to all footballers and their character values then you have to mention both sides otherwise it's just tabloidesque "broken Britain" ramblings with no balance.
