Yellowing plastic - how to whiten?

Hi,

Have just pulled our baby monitor out of the cupboard (well, attic) in preparation for DC2 and all the white plastic on it has gone a horrible yellow colour. Still works absolutely fine though.....

Is there anyway to whiten the plastic up again that anyone knows of?

Not the biggest problem of course - we'll still use it anyway as it is completely functional, but it would look a lot nicer if it didn't look like it had been sitting in a smoking area for the last 3 years!

TIA

Think the only thing you could use is bleach neat on a cloth - it may make the plastic a bit brittle though ! worth a try I'd say - failing that i'm assuming that you can unscrew the cover off ? if so what about plasticoat spray paint ? could colour co-ordinate to your room then ! good luck x

I'd have a look at Retr0bright. It's a bunch of longhair geeks old computer enthusiasts who have spent a lot of time coming up with the ideal recipe for a paste that will restore yellowed plastics.
