while mine are hard and crunchy (although clean)? I love staying being a guest so I can have nice towels. Tips please?

tumble dryer

Meglet · 05/07/2010 21:18

tumble dryer.

I don't like soft towels though. I like rough towels that absorb water. In winter I have to tumble dry them and don't like them being soft. [masochist emoticon]

Two words - tumble driers.

worldgonemad72 · 05/07/2010 21:19

My mums are always soft and fluffy, washed with comfort added and usually dried in the tumble dryer with a bounce sheet. i prefer mine crispy though.

biscuitsandbandages · 05/07/2010 21:20

lol! I think you've found your answer :D

belindarose · 05/07/2010 21:20

But I feel guilty using the tumble dryer! I suppose I'd better cultivate enjoyment of roughness.

Noo I hate fluffy towels, have to be scratchy!

biscuitsandbandages · 05/07/2010 21:25

I hate the tumble dryer too so I dry them to crunchy roughness then stick them in the dryer with a bounce sheet for 10min

SpawnChorus · 05/07/2010 21:26

No no, towels must be scratchy [ex-boarding schooler]

glacierchick · 06/07/2010 13:06

I agree hard and scratchy is better at drying, but soft and fluffy feels nicer in the hand. I second biscuits advice...

(You could also try some white vinegar in the wash, it's supposed to make them softer, without having to use fabric conditioner, which actually impairs the water absorbency of towels so shouldn't be used on them....)

berri · 06/07/2010 13:14

I dry them either on the wire-dryer or outside, then pop them in the dryer for about 10 mins, takes the roughness off.

isobelsmom · 07/07/2010 17:27

Haha SpawnChorus I'l second that! Our towels were always like cardboard!

OrientCalf · 07/07/2010 17:33

I like cardboard towels too

TheFoosa · 07/07/2010 17:58

cardboard towels but NO to cardboard jeans...

jazzandh · 07/07/2010 21:47

tumble dryer for 5 minutes before line drying. Fluffs them up first.

booyhoo · 07/07/2010 22:42
