dyeing clothes (boden in particular!)

Hello
I have a boden hoody which I have never really liked. Like the hoody just not keen on the colour. It is dusk pink shade and makes me look ill. I would like to dye it dark red or navy blue.

Two questions

  1. Will it be a disaster?
  2. Best way to do it
  3. Should I take the buttons off (they are white) and what about he cord through hood a that is white as well?

any help please ? Just realised that is 3 questins not 2 ! Thanks K

What's it made of? If it's 100% cotton it should dye very nicely in the machine. Obv. take the cord out if you want it to stay white and the buttons too. Just make sure you use enough dye for the weight of the garment. Machine definitely gets the best results as long as you follow the dye instructions to the letter.

Just a warning about dying in the washing machine. When I did this the washing machine took ages to clean. The dye seemed to get trapped in the seal and despite scrubbing like mad I could only wash things that were more hardy first of all afterwards (dark towels), very risky if you have expensive clothes you wash by machine I would say.

Thanks. I will dye it but will then do a couple of dark washes and maybe just run the machine empty too. I hope it turns out well. Cant be any worse than the drab colour it is now !
