stale cooking smells in the microwave - help!

my microwave is smelly despite me cleaning it a couple of times. and i seem to vagley remember watching 'how clean is your house' where they said you can mix bicarb? with something else, zap it in the microwave for about a minute and it makes all the smells go away?

does anyone know how to do this, what i have to mix with bicarb and if it was bicarb.

or does anyone have another tip for getting rid of stale cooking smells from the microwave?

yep i've scrubbed the whole thing with flash trying to get rid of the smells. it wasnt dirty, just smelly

i will give that i go. dh will think i've gone mad, but if you say it will work and stop my kitchen smelling of noodles, popcorn or tomato soup every time i open it, then i will try anything!

I do the lemon thing every time I've used half a lemon for something - just bung the squeezed out lemon in a bowl of water and m'wave, then wipe out with a clean cloth.

Keep an eye on it though, last time I did this I managed to set fire to the lemon and the plastic bowl it was in...

Slices of lemon in water and cook for about 3 minutes. Makes any food splatters easier to clean off. Put a pot of bicarb in the microwave and leave over night, should absorb the smells. Works in the fridge too.
