Am thinking of getting a handheld steam cleaner but a bit confused. Want to clean carpet and sofa as well - will a smallish, not too expensive one do the job - even if only on small areas at a time? And can't figure out where the dirt goes if it's not a cleaner that sucks up dirt at the same time as steaming. I guess on hard surfaces you just wipe away with a cloth, but how does it work with upholstry/carpet spots?
