nice air fresheners

Hi, Does anyone have any tips for air fresheners that dont smell yuk? We are babysitting an elderly relatives house while it is on the market (they have moved into sheltered accommodation). It has been thoroughly cleaned but standing empty for months and smells old and damp whenever we show prospective buyers round. tried the glade plug ins but found them a bit overpowering and artificial. At home I use essential oils either as candles/oil burners or drops on the radiator/light bulb but neither is practical in an empty unheated house!

Good quality candles are generally much better than air freshener (which I agree are very yuk). You could try lighting them for half an hour or so before the visit and then putting the away? Opening the windows and letting the air really circulate can help too, but I think that empty houses just do smell a bit.

thanks, thats what I do at home but we are handing viewings over to the estate agent soon so don't imagine they would do that.

try leaving bowls of white vinegar in each room where it smells musty.

the vinegar absorbs smells - and the smell of the vinegar disappears quickly, or just open the windows before viewings.

i have never smelt a nice air freshener - thay all smell nasty and chemical-y to me.
