smelly washing machine....

.... any ideas? I've wiped it round, including the seals, pulled it out to make sure it's not leaking, put it on a very hot wash with nothing in it, but it still smells. Any ideas as to possible causes/solution? Thanks

what does it smell of? Mould or drains?

lilolilmanchester · 17/06/2010 22:07

it smells musty - like damp towels

You could try a hot wash with a cup of vinegar added straight into the drum, or a squirt of bleach - I've tried both and they definitely help with the musty smell - just make sure you run a really good rinse after the bleach treatment!

I was wondering about vinegar aniyan, do you mean white vinegar? Not sure I fancy risking bleach. Any idea what causes it?

Was just going to post about the same problem. Will have a go with the vinegar now too.

Yes, I meant white vinegar. Let me know if it works - seems to do the trick here. I also make sure I leave the door of the machine wide open for a while after I've done a wash, and I never close it completely (unless there's a wash in there, obviously )

tried it and it seems to have worked... and also leaving door open when poss. Thanks!
