How to defrost my fridge-freezer

My fridge freezer has a very icy bottom!

It's a combination one so I don't think I can ever have it empty enough to switch it off properly.

Can I defrost the freezer bit?

They don't have separate off/on buttons btw.

Any ideas?

I turn mine off, then leave the fridge closed while I defrost the freezer using warm water/hairdryer/blowtorch

It'll keep cold enough for a short time to preserve your cold stuff.

Anything in the freezer, well, I usually do it in the winter, and put it into insulated boxes and stick it outside. I think you'd just have to eat it at this time of year.

Do you think if I put the freezer stuff into supermarket freezer bag with ice blocks it'd be ok?
