How do I get red face paint off a duvet cover/pillowcase?

I had friends staying over on Saturday night we made an evening of it with the football, the 7 year old had red and white face paint on and laid on a pink duvet cover/pillow in the spare room. Despite putting it in the wash immediately there are red stains. Any suggestions, would Vanish powder get this out?

oil based, so I would guess something like fairy liquid as it will bind to the oily molecules.

what did you wash it in and what temp? you may have set the stain....

40 degrees with Sainsbury's Basics washing powder, I do hope not it is rather a nice set with embroidery on
