Patching / dying linen trousers?

My favourite linen trousers have got the beginnings of a hole where they've gone a bit thin at the top of the legs. [sob] Can anything be done? Hoping for perhaps some sort of massive iron on wonder web patch type thing?

Next have changed the material/style for their trousers this year, and I don't like them as much. May have to go searching the shops for a new pair.

Also... some of my other pairs of dark linen trousers have faded a bit. Can I redye them black or blue? Is it likely to be successful?

Yes, you can dye them, the colour should take well on linen. I've found it is synthetic fabrics which don't take the colour so well. Make sure though that you get a dye that doesn't require such a hot wash that the fabric shrinks. No advice about the patch, sorry, but hope someone else will know!
