Talk to me about double sinks....

New kitchen coming soon.
Having undermounted stainless steel, double bowl...

BUT can't decide how big I need..

Last time had way too big main sink and diddly little rectangular veg sink alongside

My option are:

Smaller, but still large-ish main sink and similar veg sink

OR

two square sinks (one slightly larger than others)

What do you think? What are the advantages of a reasonable size 2nd sink?

We've got a '2 and a half' ie 2 sinks with a little one in between great, but no draining board and we can't source any sort of double with a draining board. You don't realise how essential the draining board is until you've not got one.

Kleeneezee used to do a tray type thing that works as a draining board, you put it on the work surface and it has a spouty bit to fennel the water into the sink.

We never had a draining board before, but found a nice draining rack with tray in stainless steel.

Drainer grooves in granite get crappy with hard water area

Think we will go for the two square sinks option?

I LOVE my double sink.

It is great for putting dirty stuff in one side but having a separate sink for washing stuff. We usually stack dirty things in one before stacking them in the dishwasher and so can still use the second for washing purposes.

I would definitely recommend a double if you've got the space.

I have a double sink, but stupid previous homeowners opted for a corner version (but without the handy draining area in the picture so only one person can use it at a time). I recommend a side by side double sink with plenty of space for two to use at once. I use mine like Bunjies does.
