I've managed to spill a rather large amount of cough medicine on my bedroom carpet (100% wool).
I immediately attacked it with washing up liquid and water, but the mark is still very noticeable and grey (nice!).
I also tried a rather old can of Vanish carpet on it, but that seems to have fixed it in place, which certainly wasn't my intention.
