Thats about it really!!!

Have never had a cleaner before (although "delt" with them all the time nannying in my bosses home)

Local lady with a card up on village notice board... she is bringing references.

when i check them what do i ask?

also how long before you trust your cleaner enough to give them the key?

I gave mine a key straight away - I wanted her to clean while I was out at work.
She did work part-time at my doctors surgery and I had called her there, so felt comfortable I could find her if need be!
The second cleaner was a friend of a friend, again I knew where she lived (down the road) so didn't worry.
I am generally quite relaxed about these things though (left the piano tuner a key so he could let himself out the other day on his first visit).
Questions? I just showed them round the house, gave a rough idea of what I wanted doing, asked what they thought, timings etc.
Afterall it is just cleaning.
Both times agreed on a 1 month trial.
The first lady was quite concerned I didn't judge her after the first week to give her change to get up to speed, find things, get in to a routine etc!
I now desperately need to find a new cleaner!!!
