Should I be using a flat sheet??

Its so hot lately I took off the flat sheet that I usually have between us and the duvet. Its an extra layer I reckon we dont need.

But...my dh says that this is unhygienic, and that it means if he sweats (sorry if tmi) there is not sheet between him and the duvet cover.

Who is right? IS a Flat sheet a must, or not?

I never use a flat sheet

Never use a flat sheet. Thats what duvet covers are for surely?

In the summer, when it is VERY hot, we only use a flat sheet rather than the duvet, but never both together!

MrsBadger · 02/06/2010 22:05

I never use one

tell dh to wash the duvet cover more often

CMOTdibbler · 02/06/2010 22:05

I've never used a flat sheet

Your duvet cover is washable surely??

JamieJay · 02/06/2010 22:06

Agree with the others - that's why you have a cover on the duvet and wash it regularly.

If hot use just a sheet or a thinner duvet.

Either flat sheet and no duvet if it's not or no flat sheet.

Agree with MrsBadger, you just need to wash the duvet cover more often.

Oh Great! I am going to show him your responses. (wouldnt mind but it is me who does the laundry!)

If he is worried about hygiene, may I ask how many sheets between him and the mattress/mattress cover. Surely any sweat/other fluids etc are more likely to drip downwards!

Ime most duvet covers are a bit thicker than flat sheets, or certainly equal to a flat sheet.
