not the ones that have cleaning stuff built in. the ones that you reuse after washing?

well, what exactly do you do with them?

i got one today. it is too loong to fit in my mop bucket so i had to pour my mop water into a spray bottle and spray the floor which took ages and burnt my hand. and then i ran this thing over the floor and wasn't really convinced that i was actually cleaning the floor. and now i have to wash the grubby thing that i dont think i will use again.

how do you use yours?

Is it a microfibre one? I have 3 cloths for mine, and just throw the dirty one into the washing machine. I just use it to go over the floor once a day and then dh does the "big" mop with the bucket at the weekend.

yes, how do you get the water on it though or do you jsut use it dry?

I just run it under the tap! I also got some dettol Spray n Mop which I use if it's dirtier than usual!

i have two..

First I hoover / sweep the floor

i have one fluffy microfibre mop attachment (£1 from pound shop) and i use that to dust the floor

then i put hot water + soda crystals in the washing up bowl... i use my other micrifibre but not as fluffy attachment... i dip it in water, ring out attach to mop and mop the floor...

i find it works amazing and is my mop of choice... my floor gets clean, no nasty chemicals go into our water system, nothing goes to landfill and my floor really is very clean

I have an e-cloth one I got in the sale in Marks, I use it on the wooden floors.
I hoover or sweep first, spray the floor with water then use the micro fibre head to clean and the fleecy head to polish it.
It's great on the wood but no good for the craggy old slate in the kitchen.

I have a Smart one too and was told not to bother with chemical cleaners.

I just put the microfibre cloth under the tap, wring it out and attach it to the moppy bit and go over the floor with it. I hoover first. Works a treat, no stickiness and gets rid of all the marks on the floor. Is fab, I love it.

I only use ours in the bathroom, so the water comes ready made on the floor after the kids have had their bath!

froggy901 · 04/06/2010 18:20

nannyl - would you mind sharing how much soda crystals you put in with the water?

nannyl · 04/06/2010 19:09

hello froggy
I sort of put a 'little shake' in about 3inches of hot water in my washing up bowl...

not sure really, probably about a tablespoonish?

froggy901 · 04/06/2010 19:11

thanks

Managed to use my noggin and read the back of the packet for the dose!

I put a squeeze of lemon in it too (and was a little scared there was going to big a huge exothermic explosion or something....!)

nannyl · 04/06/2010 19:15

lol
not sure I have ever read it! i just use it lol
i also put a bit in with my white washing and it makes it really clean (use less detergent), or use them alone if washing stuff that doesnt need to smell nice (ie dustsheets that get paint on them)

i might try a squeeze if lemon next time

ruddynorah · 04/06/2010 19:17

i have the lakeland one. it's bloody marvellous. no need for dry 2nd head after though, just wring it out til no more come out.

never again will i faff about with those flat head things.
