How do you get fluff etc out of the velcro on shoes?

This may sound a bit of a silly question! My dd's shoes have fluff/threads/grass in the spiky part of the velcro. I've tried picking it out with tweezers, but is there a better way?

Rub your nails against it. I find tweezers work fine.
Maybe try strong tape?

Rub the two 'hook' parts from each shoe together is the way I do it. Takes a bit of patience though

I found a big blunt darning needle worked best - you can just push it across and it lifts all the fluffy threads off. The point of a knitting needle would probably do the same job too.

Gosh you lot are fast! Thanks. I'm new to the good housekeeping thread, but love it!
Right, nails, tape and needles at the ready!

I use one blade edge of the scissors using the same action that AMumInScotland describes - also works for getting hair out if a hairbrush

With my nitty gritty nit comb. Works wonders!

The tines of a fork work as well
