Just wanted to share this -

Dh has just come out with a classic "you need to get more organised, my Mum never even had an ironing pile, she just did it!"

This rendered me speechless! Does anyone not have an ironing pile? I do all mine on a Sunday night which I thought was quite good!

I am one of those odd people that actually quite like ironing, but only when I have built up a weeks worth of shirts, uniforms and my stuff

I always iron at the weekend, and take control of the remote, watching catch upeducational documentaries crap on TVor the odd film.

I am a bit anal about sorting tho' so never iron pjs, sheets, sports kit etc, but always fold stuff flat when it goes in the basket as that makes ironing easier.

I honestly dont understand how people do it as they go?
So they just take it off the line walk straight in and iron it all? Do they not have children demanding attention, or another load to go in?
I dont have much or for long, but yes I have a basket of stuff waiting to be done, but maybe thats because I work full time? I usually iron 2 or 3 times a week, but no way am I ironing every day, ludicirous suggestion frankly!

To me 'iron as I go' would mean doing it every evening after work which would be horrific I agree dtgirl!

I'm just facing the mammoth task of ironing all the summer shirts for my partner and son, which I'm ashamed to say are still in the ironing basket from last autumn. I HATE ironing and tend to mostly buy stuff that doesn't need ironing as long as it's hung up to dry. Luckily my partner is a carpenter so doesn't need shirts etc. Just got to do this stuff ready for holiday coming up. I always find something else to do instead....

Almost forgot, I had another classic from my partner the other day, when I told him that our ds wanted to make a birthday cake for me and could he help him at the weekend, to which he replied "have i got to do that as well as everything else" and suggested I should buy myself a cake instead! Ooooooh!!!

My DH wouldn't dare say this as I would point out his mother actually had a housekeeper who did all the ironing and that she never lifted a finger around the house other than to pour out gin and tonics
