I love my lemon zester!

i would say, my electronic kitchen scales.
but i dont own many kitchen gadgets.
i would like a kenwood chef food processor and mixer thing.

IMoveTheStars · 07/05/2010 23:01

joseph joseph bowl nest

not exactly a gadget, but brilliant and I love it.

misspollysdolly · 07/05/2010 23:12

My potato ricer

Hand-held stick blender

Another saddo vote for lock n locks - I have LOTS!

Oh, and a brilliant balloon whisk with a smaller wire ball and ball bearing inside - absolutely fab and I have not seen another like it in any shop - would actually be rather lost without it! Now that is surely the height of sad!

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 07/05/2010 23:24

I forgot how much I love my potato ricer

my bread maker
russel hobbs water kettle - it*s really fast

BusyMummy78 · 08/05/2010 13:07

I got a free surgical steel paring knife at a demo in Debenhams about 2 years ago (I think it's called forever sharp). I nearly chopped my thumb off not so long ago, but it is fab!

My thumb healed eventually, but it's the best little knife I own.

ZacharyQuack · 08/05/2010 13:11

My Kitcheaid. It's so very very pretty.

cupparooibos · 11/05/2010 22:20

Microplane grater!

This thread reminds me we really need some better / sharper knives.

FourArms · 12/05/2010 09:43

Busymummy (nearly had a typo then and you'd have been bustymummy! ) I have one of those knives too, and it's fab. Esp for strawberries. I have a pampered chef gadget for paring strawberries, but it's nowhere near as good.

My favourite gadget would have to be my Tefal one cup kettle type thingy. So nice not to wait for the kettle to boil, and environmentally friendly too!

Pampered chef chopper and oxo peeler would be close seconds though.

No actually... changed my mind. Dishwasher comes first, but is that a kitchen gadget, or a kitchen appliance?

descendingintomadness · 12/05/2010 13:00

My Lakeland hand-held steamer. Makes very short work defrosting a very heavily iced-on freezer and cleaning my microwave

mrsflux · 12/05/2010 14:36

i love my hand held blender - a dualit one in sky blue!
just as good as but much smaller than proper food mixer.
although i would love one of those

microplane grater is fab too!

thumbwitch · 12/05/2010 14:42

my julienne grater - love it to bits.
A recent acquisition - amazing silicon lids that fit over frying pans and pretty much any other vessel. They form a seal that allows you to lift the vessel by the centre of the lid but if you pick it up by the edge it comes straight off - saves a fortune in clingfilm! And because they're silicon they don't melt. very happy with them.
I quite like my mini-chef food processor as well but it's not quite as brilliant as I'd like it to be.

cupparooibos · 12/05/2010 20:41

thumbwitch where do you get amazing silicon lids? They sound great!

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 12/05/2010 22:57

just checked 'posts i'm on' and have become disturbingly excited by some suggestions (self help thread anywhere/anyone )

must look out the microplane grater and hand held steamer
and silicone lids
and new knives
and a new life.

My Kitchen Aid. It looks lovely sitting in my kitchen although I've never actually used it

thumbwitch · 13/05/2010 00:50

amazing silicon lids, called ezi-seal - however, I and they are in Australia and I couldn't tell you if they ship overseas but you could contact them if you want and ask.

The lids can also be used as pot stands to protect work surfaces/tables - they are great, imho.

dexter73 · 13/05/2010 09:30

Breadmaker without a doubt!
Used nearly every day for 10 years and still going strong!

NormaSnorks · 13/05/2010 09:35
  • George Foreman grill
  • Apple slicer
  • My pineapple corer/slicer (even though I don't use it much - it still amazes me every time I do!)
iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 13/05/2010 10:22

Norma
i've got one of those pineapple things too, and it's bloody brilliant, if i can ever find it, that is.

OP posts:
FourArms · 16/05/2010 09:55

Ooh, I'd like a pineapple thing too. Does it take the outside off?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 16/05/2010 09:57

DH

iwastooearlytobeayummymummy · 16/05/2010 22:51

four arms
you cut the top leaves off and then 'screw' the thing in a bit lke a cork screw.
It leaves the skin intact, like an outer shell
I have often thought it would make a great humongous pinacolada glass

weegiemum · 16/05/2010 22:52

Slow cooker.

expatinscotland · 16/05/2010 22:56

i love my slow cooker, too.

i use it at least 3x/week.

also use my collection of ice cube trays to make ice cubes of all sorts for smoothies - coffee, juice, even freeze bits of lemon or lime in ice cubes to squeeze into your Coke or sparkling water.

oh, and i used shaped ice cubes to make chocolates.

DreamTeamGirl · 16/05/2010 23:56
