DPs ties really need a wash - but are silk so how is the best way to wash them?

Also, if anyone knows how to keep shirts white that would be good!

They usually say dry clean only... I've never dared to wash one...

I always take the silk ties to the dry cleaners.

I never wash any coloured items with my whites - otherwise I find they start to go grey.

Dry cleaner only.

don't do it! they go all floppy and don't tie right. dry clean only

The best way to get a silk tie washed is to hand it to the owner and say 'I dont wear these and so have no idea how to clean them and no inclination to learn'

PestoEatsBallotPapers · 07/05/2010 17:56

carefully

KnottyLocks · 07/05/2010 18:15

You could try gentle sponging. I've tried this with a couple of gravy stained ones but I wouldn't put them in a washing machine.

Dry cleaning is probably best.

chocolateme · 13/05/2010 15:18

Def dont put them in the machine...I did...whoops!!

Andy1964 · 13/05/2010 17:04

Throw them away, they are never the same after dry cleaning, sponging, washing etc, etc.

Tell DP not to be so clumsy with his soup
