strange shirt question?

Never seen this happen until I met dp - the underarms of his shirts end up like cardboard
I've tried washing with soda crystals, pre treaters, hotter wash etc nothing seems to work. His t-shirts are fine, just work shirts & I wouldn't say he sweats alot either.
Any suggestions on how to make his shirts last longer because it'd be nice to treat myself to new clothes rather than him new work shirts all the time

This happens to my clothes too. Think its anti perspirant doing it. I use Ariel with Febreze which helps a little as the 'cardboard' effect can also get sweaty/pongy. I will watch this thread for any more top tips!

Are they polyester, rather than cotton?

Switch him to Mitchum solid. Also, switch to pure cotton shirts, poly mix shirts are a bugger to get properly clean, whereas real pure cotton can wash hotter and also last longer and don't make you sweat.

Glad he's not the only one - was beginning to think it was my dodgy laundry skills

Have just got him to change from his overpriced lynx to whatevers on offer on my economy drive so maybe it might improve a little?

It happens to my cotton tops AND man made tops.

WMMC strangely I use that & never have this problem
His 100% cotton shirts are the worst for it though? Have bought the cheaper cotton mix shirts as they need replacing regularly & they don't seem as bad but it could be they're thinner?

don't think he'd use a solid deodorant though - is the aerosol just as good?

In that case you are just going to have to Viakal his armpits.

was thinking of just letting him sort them out.....

his way would probably be to take them home to his mother though!
