Has anyone got a slow cooker where the pot can be used on hte hob?

I am after a large slow cooker (6.5ltr ish) but would love to be able to put the crockpot bit on the hob to brown meat off before putting back into main bit to do the slow cooking bit. But everything I have seen seems to say I can't do this and being the slattern I am I am looking at keeping the washing up down to a minimum.

Mines an old, old tower one and I can use it on the hob.
Just not in the oven with the lid on, as the lid has a plastic handle.
I'm surprised, I thought they'd all be hobbable - being heat proof an' all.

Yes! The Crock-pot brand ones can usually be used on the hob. I got mine from Costco about a year ago but you can get them in Argos too. Mine was supplied with a trivet for the hob which I always use and it works fine. It is a big 6 litre one too.

Yes i have but i'm afraid i can't remember what brand it is. i got it from makro about 2 years ago. it can be used in the oven two - the dish and lid are both stoneware or whatever and they sit on the electirc base. it's much better as creates less washing up and also you don't lose any of the bits that stick to the base of the dish when you brown the meat. ssory i can;t help much, but they do exist!

sorry, i meant too, not two!

and i think mine might be the same brand that pacific is talking about.

I have this one

It's great being able to use it on the hob

Do find things can have a bit of a funny "crockpot taste" but not sure if thta's the cooker or my cooking. Seems to be worse if I put wine in...almost metallic taste
