cleaning guilt

I just hired a cleaner for the first time ever and am feeling sort of guilty about paying someone to the housework I could do. Any others of you also feel guilty about this?

I am so don't feel guilty, I would in a heartbeat if I could.

We have a cleaner and I don't feel in the least bit guilty about it as I work 4 days a week and the remainder of the household chores tend to fall to me so why should I feel guilty about outsourcing a small fraction of them.

I do however secretly think it is lazy of DH to have hired someone to mow our lawn, so am somewhat guilty of double standards.

I have a cleaner for 2 hours once a week. For the first few weeks I felt v guilty, and only let her iron, but now she does whatever needs doing, while I cook for/feed/entertain my DTs.

One of her customers pays her to iron, and sits in a chair watching her and chatting the whole time she's there! Not sure I'm that brazen, but I have convinced myself that the quality time with the DTs is well worth the money!

Thanks so much for sharing! Good to see I'm not alone in this. Hopefully, this feeling will pass and I'll be more comfortable with the arrangement because it is great and handy. Thanks for pointing that side out!

I'm embarrassed to have just upped the cleaner from 1x2 hours to 2x2 hours each week...
But it's necessary for whole family's well-being!

What cracks me up are the people (like my sis!) who run around cleaning for the cleaner!! (not tidying, CLEANING!!?? )
