Sodding Scooby Doo has died underneath DS's wardrobe

You know, the stretch scooby doo toy.

It must have been overstretched and burst, then shoved under the wardrobe. It is now lying in a dried puddle of "blood" which looks like dried treacle on the carpet.

Any idea how to get it off?

How about this?

Simply · 03/05/2010 11:44

I used to use this a lot when the kids were small.

MaryMotherOfManchego · 03/05/2010 11:45

I don't know.

It is literally like half a tin of treacle over an area about 20cm across and about 3 millimetres deep.

DH says try warming it with a hairdryer first?

Wow. That is a stain and a half! How expensive is the carpet? I wouldn't warm it with a hairdryer without it being a recommended part of the stain removal procedure (iyswim). Otherwise you may be handling the stain more than is necessary. I'd probably buy a couple of White Wizards but you might be better off asking a specialist if the carpet value warrants paying for this sort of advice (unless you can get some advice for free, of course).

The carpet was expensive.

Insurance Policy?

Simply · 03/05/2010 11:54

Ah, yes. What is your excess? Does the carpet extend through to other rooms?

Simply · 03/05/2010 12:13

Sorry, my last post was brief as I had to take dd to work for 12.

The reason that I ask if the carpet extends to other rooms (or perhaps the hallway and landing) is that if the carpet can't be cleaned then the insurance company would replace all the matching carpets unless, I guess, it is quite new and they can get an exact match from the manufacturer still. I would expect that an expert in stain removal would be able to get it off for much less money so that's probably the first thing to find out.
