May's Fledgling Flyers: shed that clout May Flyers are out

elliepac · 28/04/2010 21:23

Welcome to the May edition of the fledgling flyers where we are going to merrily fly around the maypole, dusting as we go.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

For those who are curious, these are the Babysteps, which we all hope will restore order in our homes and make our lives a little bit easier with lots of support (and chat, and wine, and a little more chat )

So please come and join us, old and new, from May 1st.

This morning has been really good
dc breakfasted
ds got himself dressed without any nagging (I was commentator and he was in a race with DD)
swimming was good and I was an encouraging mum in changing room not a naggy one.
We then went to play park
DS had wee bitta wibblie wobblie at music and movement but fine
now both DC are in bed and I'm mn whilst watching ghost whisperer!

this afternoons routine :-
put away mountains of ironing
wm load
kitchen hotspot
order shopping for ocado to deliver to holiday house
dejunk under bed drawers
play with DCs
make dinner still trying to decide what will be...something and mince!!

chairmum oh dear I think football second hand worse than watching it! What a brill DS helping sweep.
sc hope your migranes getting wee bit better. My DH must be living a double life I swear you just described my DH!!

Hope you all have lovely afternoons x

NickOfTime · 25/05/2010 16:03

dw - emptied and reloaded after breakfast
wm - done
kids to school on time yay!

ironed last night, so they were even in flat clothes! - and i even ironed a tablecloth that has been lurking in the ironing mountain pile since () christmas day. christmas day. just in time for the next one, eh?

found lots of ds1's pyjamas lurking too, which appear to be a good 2 years too small. normally they would hang around as emergency pairs for dd2, but i think they are going to be either cut up and put under the sink (not sure what for lol, but people always say to recycle old clothes for cleaning rags ) or they are going in the bin. can't really pass them on, they are beyond it.

swimming lessons here don't start until next week, but fortunately at 8 ds gets to use the men's changing rooms (no family rooms here). which means i hover around the door accosting strange men and asking them to hurry up the small boy who will still be wet and naked half an hour after his lesson finishes...

tonight -

ironing
wm
pack overnight bags for dd1 and ds1 for tomorrow... must remember to e-mail dh and ask him where the air bed is...

but i've also got a meeting at 5... so might have to feed dcs first. ugh.

have a lovely evening everyone. i'm off to work!

LinzerTorte · 25/05/2010 16:45

Back from ILs, but rather later than planned - we were waylaid on our journey home by an exhibition about ants. DD1's homework for this weekend was to find out why ants were useful so when we spotted the poster for the exhibition, we couldn't really not go. Finally managed to find the museum after going to the wrong one first and driving round half of Linz, or so it seemed.

After arriving home and unpacking (sort of), taking DH's car into the garage and then going for coffee and ice cream afterwards, it's looking increasingly unlikely that I'll get today's list done. But I will be optimistic and post it anyway:

Food shopping done
Shop for Kindergarten snack for DS's class on Thursday done
Washing
Finish unpacking
Plan English lesson on the monarchy for tomorrow
Write thank you note
Send postcards
Proofread translation
Invoices x2
Fill in electoral registration forms (as we're visiting a British friend tomorrow who'll be able to sign them)

ellie I'd be more than happy for you to carry on if you're happy to do so. The back-up offer still stands btw - if you don't manage to post the babystep/mission in the evening, I'm almost always online at around 5 am and could do so then if you want.

swanriver · 25/05/2010 17:55

Lots of gardening done
also moved some more miscellaneous heavy stuff from front garden to back

taken remaining dcs to dentist (no fillings tg)
cafe
football stickers bribes for dentist
dcs have tidied rooms for five minutes
now watchiing telly

SC I like your paniers, that sounds v.romantic
Nettie no it wasn't you
boohoo that's the good thing about toddlers, when they nap it's so peaceful, one couldn't possibly feel stressed

grillng remains of weekend fare
need to go and deal with hall horrors too.

UnifyingLeptonsAndQuarks · 25/05/2010 18:05

DEM has gone awol. she has given up on flying and finding any excuse to do something other then what she should. disgraceful behaviour

She will be back wearing her normal name next month. Arm is healing nicely but needed yet another name for a bit. Catch ya later. hope you are all doing well.

DEM.

Evening All

I had been away for so long that I fell off the thread! Oops!

Actually, considering we still have builders here and a malfunctioning washing machine, things are surprisingly under control but very little happening in the way of decluttering and missions.

Just trying to catch up with the thread a bit!

Welcome Nickoftime .

Good luck with the new routine Nettie and will try to remember your alternative name Uni. DWM - just read your post about a thread title for next month where did the time go?

Sorry you are having more migraine problems SC.

Lots of hugs and waves to everyone SR, CMM, Ellie, Linzer, MissB.

Now, I really should let you all know that I have news...I'm pregnant again and this time we've reached 13 weeks without any problems so we're starting to get excited .

Right, on that happy note, I'm off to sort out the kitchen and the washing before putting my feet up for a bit.

Nettiespagetti · 25/05/2010 20:01

elliepac · 25/05/2010 20:48

Evening everyone,

yaaaaaaaaay mm congratulations, I am so so so so happy for you and your lovely family. .

Chaos is reigning here today. Technically speaking both DC's should be asleep right now. DS has just come down for the umpteenth time and DD is in her cot shouting repeatedly 'hiya mummy, hiya daddy, hiya mummy, hiya daddy.'

Have actually managed to get something done today:-

DW on
WM on
General tidy downstairs (no mean feat!)
Floors swept
Clothes out for morning

And that's me done.

nettie seeing as you can't go out to the gym, I prescribe a nice relaxing evening for you .

unifying impressive name . Glad the arm is healing. See you next month!

sr busy day, particularly in the garden. Well done you .

linzer ants eh? I never knew they could be so fascinating, all they do in my life is cause problems .

nick at children in flat clothes. SOunds like a productive day your way. Well Done . And don't worry about the evening routine for now, just focus on shining your sink!

sc yaaaay, oh how we miss you when you are not here but about the migraines and sympathy over our respective DH's. Don't make it too long before you check in again . I need your words of wisdom .

chairmum busy day for one so pregnant! Thought I told you to take it easy girl .

Big waves to all dwm pmpy pa om missb mrsd and anyone else my befuddled brain has forgotten!

Back in a moment for step posting!

MrsDinky · 25/05/2010 21:12

Evening all,

Bit confused that the Flylady seems to think I might keep my pantyhose in the bathroom...

Actually, that's another one for that thread about words you hate. Pantyhose, yuck.

Very little flying again, just maintenance really, been out a lot today again. Never mind.

MM - congratulations! Hope you are feeling well.

SC Hello - hope migraines are improving

Uni - hope wrist is getting better.

Nick - hello and welcome on board, sounds like you will be very at home on this thread.

Might I nominate my DH for being the same as all yours seem to be? Does anyone remember me saying that prior to our New Year party DH moved some of his piles of junk important paperwork to our bedroom floor, and that after a month of stepping over them I shoved them all in a box and left it on his side of the bed. I have repeatedly asked him to get it sorted, asked again tonight, he tutted and lobbed it up into the loft. Grrr. And then went out.

Anyway, determined to do some of the ironing tonight, so better go, see you all tomorrow.

droitwichmummy · 25/05/2010 21:47

CONGRATULATIONS MM! Go and put your feet up with chairmum in the corner

Hello sc & Quark. Good to see both of you.

Not a lot done here but working from home tomorrow and Thursday so saving myself. Am also gearing myself to tackle the garage on Monday

I have been thinking about a thread title - bit tricky this month. Best effort so far is 'Flaming June, its the fledgling flyers'

MrsDinky · 25/05/2010 21:59

That's very good DWM.

Stillcounting · 25/05/2010 22:19

Oh - can't resist stopping by to say " Oh that's lovely news MiniM!!!!! - CONGRATULATIONS to you, your dh and your ds- couldn't be happier for you - how exciting - and take it steady !!!! xxxx

(and you too of course Chairmum )

Hello Mummy!! Hope all well with you and sorry to hear about Daisy. Hope she is OK. Rather like 'flaming June' in title ...

MrsDinky couldn't agree more about the word 'pantyhose' - double yuck. Solidarity over respective dh clutter.

Thanks Ellie but are you sure the words of wisdom are from moi???? If you could only see my house now ..... Your dc sound lovely btw!!

Are you sure you are OK to lead thread next mth btw? (Am sure June is very busy time for you academics) Am v. happy to provide back-up if you need it - (hope to be back more regularly by then) you are doing brill job of round-ups and posting etc ...

Hi to Unifying (like the new name) and hope your arm gets better soon

OOoh errr Nettie - may be they are one and the same. (Perhaps we should have a private chat about "identifying marks" ??? )

Am v. impressed by your lists Linzer (well done on getting registered too)

Bravo on ironing pile Nick

Waves to PA (happy birthday to your ma) Optimistic Pushme Feetheart MissBennett and everyone I have missed

Migraine situation OK at the mo - thanks everyone - and (even better) doc has supplied huge array of drugs in case of recurrence ...

Better be good and get to bed now though

Happy Flying everyone!!

swanriver · 25/05/2010 22:48

n haste, congratulations MM

NickOfTime · 26/05/2010 04:04

evening going ok - meeting finished, dcs fed, bathed and in bed. man came round to get info on looking after dogs tomorrow, so that saves me a phone call in the morning! but he came round unexpectedly and for once i wasn't dying at the state of my kitchen! i am chuffed to ribbons with myself

dishwasher on and washing merrily
wm on

ironing looming (there is still a lot left), but it's the final of american idol tonight, so it gives me an excuse to gawp at the tv for a an hour or two.

accom booked (dd2 and i don't have to sleep in the car - yay)

dd1/ds1 o'night bags half done

still dd2's/ mine to do

work was sooooooo busy. my colleague is 38 weeks on friday, had a show over the weekend, and is still working, despite disappearing to the loo every twenty minutes (with me going 'omg have her waters gone') and stopping for bh/ contractions. i did feel it necessary to remind her that she really didn't need to come in if she was actually, y'know, in labour...

(oh, and congrats mm, i love it when people have good news )

oo, i hear the idol soundtrack, the tv ironing calls

NickOfTime · 26/05/2010 04:07

have failed a bit with the swish and swipe...am postponing this one until the weekend, as i want to blitz a bit and get organised first (to make it easier) . but more tv ironing will be my penance...

LinzerTorte · 26/05/2010 07:14

Morning all,

Just dropping in before I start work - Wednesdays is my short working day, or morning rather, and as usual there's lots to fit in today.

First of all though, congratulations MiniM - that's wonderful news! Hope you're feeling OK and not suffering too much from morning sickness etc.

SC - glad to hear the migraine is better. And thanks for giving me the kick I needed to register to vote; I'm almost there now!

Done so far:
Emptied DW
Unpacked DC's suitcases
Sent postcards
Bought bread for Kindergarten class snack

Still to do:
Work
Routines
Thank you note
Invoices
English lesson
DDs to piano lesson
Visit friend (NB don't forget form)
Pick up DH from station and take to garage to collect his car

My suggestion for next month's thread title:
Shining our sinks for summer: June fledgling flyers.
Or maybe Shining our summer sinks: ...
Whether summer will actually have arrived here by next month is another matter...

droitwichmummy · 26/05/2010 07:52

Morning!

At home today working but have a sort of plan (for once): 15 mins of housework each hour. That should give me a break from work (mostly in front of laptop, chance to put the kettle on AND get something done around the house. So today I want to:
quick wipe round in kitchen
DO THE IRONING (please nag!)
WM on
empty DW
2 hotspots in lounge
put the washing away

Back for progress report later

missbennett · 26/05/2010 08:43

Morning!
COngratulations minim. 'Tis lovely news

Been a bit hectic here - didn't get back from work til 8.30 by which time I ws too knackered to do anything other than eat, bath and bed

I've just caught up on here though and is like a little haven of insanity in an otherwise manic RL! So hello all you lovely flying ladies - I can't begin to catch up properly BUT I too get v v v frustrated at DH's inability to (a) think about (let alone even do!) more than one thing at once and (b) only do things as they impact on him, e.g. have been nagging reminding him about claiming benefit re emphysema etc and he hasn't and said not worth it but now he thinks he might be entitled to a motability car, suddenly he's all keen! NB I don't think he will be but if it motivates him will be good.
Am also confused as to why I should keep my pantyhose in the bathroom

DD2 has got labyrinthitis and is feeling very sorry for herself. DD1 is mid exam

I am more or less managing routines and that will have to do for now. Today I have to go to the dentist but am having lunch with a friend after

And our holiday is all booked - the ferry, the cottage and the two nights in a hotel round a family wedding! Amazing what DH can achieve in one day when it suits him

Title for next month - flaming June good - also something about June/in bloom/blooming?

optimisticmumma · 26/05/2010 09:29

Morning all
Welcome Nickoftime and MANY CONGRATULATIONS MM!!!!!!!!!
First day off of the week and all DC at school today! Haven't had the house to myself for about 3 weeks as DS1 has been on study leave.
Keep all fingers crossed! DS1 has AS level History this morning and DD has GCSE Textiles this afternoon. DS2 who is in Y8 was ignored when he added that he had a French and a German oral today - poor thing!
I think I may have to go out later! Don't know if I can cope with the fallout!
I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new washing maching and the mountain is growing by the day. It may arrive anytime between 7am and 2pm so I really hope it's sooner rather than later...

My list looks like this:

washingdryingwashingdrying ad infinitum

Ellie - you do a great job on this thread so keep going if you want too. Unfortunately DS1 has only started his exams today....so a lot more of this for us. A horrible looking week after half term but hey ho...

MissB - what is labyrinthitis?? Hope it's not anything too bad...

PA - hope the meeting went well with DD3. Will check out other thread.

Hi to everyone else Chairmum, mrsdinky, netti, SR,Linzer, Uni and SC. Sorry if I've missed anyone else.

Be back later...

Stillcounting · 26/05/2010 11:49

Morning all

Just back from a couple of informal hrs in the office - shredding mainly - yawn

Have so much to do in the house this afternoon and tomorrow that I daren't make a list as I will frighten myself silly ....

Suffice to say it involves:

washing
more washing (oh why didn't I take advantage of sunshine when we had it - pouring with rain now)
tidying
more tidying
decluttering
more decluttering

Feel up for it though ...

Sounds like a stressful time in your household Optimistic - fingers and toes duly crossed

  • hope all goes well for you and everyone's dc who have exams at the moment

and that your dd2 feels better soon MissBennett - sounds like you very much deserve that holiday

it is nice to be able to grumble amiably about one's other half on here ....

Mummy Don't forget your ironing ...

Congrats on your visitor-friendly kitchen Nick PA how did meeting go?

Waves to everyone else ....

Nettiespagetti · 26/05/2010 14:32

Afternoon everyone

left my house in a midden and am at work all day (did make bed and swish and swiped that's all.

So am going to have an after work early evening list.

Dw
wm
ironing away
sweeping
mop living room floor
clean sofas
find my way back to missions

had a thought on thread title

"two flyers are "blooming marvellously" : here come the rest doing their flaming best"

have lovely time catch up this evening x

optimisticmumma · 26/05/2010 18:45

Love the thread title Nettie

Quick update on the optimistic household:

4 lots of washing done in my new and v.v quiet machine - I can't begin to tell you what a joy it is! Think I need to get out more...

We had both ends of the exam spectrum here: DS pleased that his questions came up, DD appalled at how hard her textiles was! Oo-er!
Think it might just be the difference between boys and girls.

Anyway, off to do more jollying-along.

See you all tomorrow!

elliepac · 26/05/2010 20:31

Evening all,

Two get ups to go and I can't wait!

Hectic evening here. Swimming run done, new Year 7 assessment created, Year 11 revision lesson created, DD bathed, MN on. Although as you can see, clearly no flying at all .

om how exciting about new machine. Mine makes a real racket when spinning but it is quite old. Good luck with the jollying-along, you sound like a teacher's dream of a parent .

nettie i absolutely love that thread title and will be using it very shortly .

sc how did the washing, tidying and decluttering go? I also love the fact that I can have an amiable rant on here, DH need never know .

missb i love booking my holiday, always makes me feel happy. Keeping on track at a time when RL is a little crazy is a marvellous achievement. Well DOne!

dwm IRONING consider yourself nagged . How did you get on with your list?

linzer impressive list today, well done you .

nick methinks you have had a breakthrough moment. The ability to have someone drop by unexpected and actually be able to let them over the threshold without hanging your head in shame is a marvellous feeling. Well Done You! Also an impressive day yesterday .

mrsd at pantyhose, it is a vile word!

Big waves to everyone else pa unifying sr mm pmpy feetheart and anyone i've forgotten.

I will carry on next month if that's ok with eeveryone. sc you are right that it is a busy time for me but leading the thread means i actually have to focus on doing stuff! Will call on sc and linzer for back up and wisdom if necessary!
