King sized beds

DP and I are looking for a new bed at the moment. We currently have a double but DP wants to go for a king sized bed. I'm wondering whether it's worth it. It would only give us an extra 3 inches each. We don't have fights over space or one person stealing all the duvet. Our room isn't particularly large.

If we do get a king we'll have to replace the duvet - which I absolutely love - and all the sheets etc. Then there's the extra £100 or so for the bed itself. Is it really worth it? Is there anyone here who has gone up a size and noticed the difference?

go for it. and also for single duvets for each of you.
totally worth it, especially if you go to bed at different times.

Yes it's worth it. We have a king size and I really notice the difference when we stay somewhere with just a double - to the point where, when we go to a hotel or to stay with friends, I only book hotels with king/superking size beds and I take a blow-up bed with me to visit friends as we can't share a double. It's just tooooooooooo uncomfortable.

So yes, it's worth it.

I brought a standard double and am now seriously regretting not getting a king...I advise you get one!

A king isn't big enough, go for the 6'. I would if I had the room. Our 3 dds (all teenagers) still come in to our bed for DVD nights and at times when they are not well. Plan for the future!

Wow - wasn't expecting such a positive response. I was very sceptical as to how much difference the 6 inches would make between 2 people. DP is fairly skinny and doesn't take up much room. He's also a heavy enough sleeper that I can push him away if he's annoying me and he won't wake up . Perhaps DP has a point. I'll be sad to get rid of my duvet.

Every inch counts deffo go for King- we went from double to king last year and so glad we did - when we went on hols at Easter we stayed in a double bed and felt so squashed

Absolutely agree - you'll be amazed at the difference, any chance you could by the same type of duvet in Kingsize?
