Rotary Washing Lines - how do you hang yours?

On a money saving mission this year to use the tumble drier as little as possible and so we bought a 4 arm rotary drier recently - but am not sure I am making best use of it.

But what's the best way to hang your washing to get it dry as quickly as possible?

Do you hang long things (towels, trousers etc) on the inside or the outside? And do you use just one side or spread it all around? How about spacing it out - do you use every line or every other line?

What's your 'strategy' please?

Are you really really really serious?

If you are, there is a wonderful book you can get from Amazon for about £1.75 (secondhand) called: "Practical and Efficient Drying: Say Hello to Green and Goodbye to the Drier."

Well, yes I'm serious but the words 'practical' and 'efficient' hint at a parallel universe which I can only dream of - hence there may be a line beyond which I would not tread for fear of turning into Anthea and that could well be it

Do you have the book Hullygully? Could you paraphrase the salient points?

I hang washing on every other line, small stuff in the middle, larger outside,

I think the main thing is don't over load it.

Lizzie, so if you hang the large stuff on the outside do you not have a problem with it blocking the sunlight to the smaller bits in the middle?

Because it makes sense to hang the big stuff on the outside as they get more wind and light and therefore dry faster. But then, you end up with all your stuff hung in a straight line effectively which means the middle stuff doesn't dry as fast??? (This is why I don't get rotary driers)

I use every other line, probably longer stuff on the outside?.the sun is nice and high in the summer though so I find it doesn?t really matter where you put stuff.
