My DM has given me hers as she found it a waste of time and space.
I haven't got the instructions, so any tips would be gratefully received.

I use my mums and LOVE it. Couple of tips for you. Always watch your fingers, especially when putting items to the far back. I keep burning my knuckles cause I don't watch what I'm doing! Don't press motifs / metal buttons or poppers without a towel over the top as you might scratch the iron or lift the motif. Don't press down, let the weight of the lid do it for you.

Thanks- I'll try it this week and let you know how I get on! Exiting stuff

There's a machine that irons? Really?

kittywise · 25/04/2010 22:13

You mean a press? I've had one for years. Have 6 kids. Couldn't imagine being without one. Yep burnt knuckles..... they heat up like you wouldn't believe BUT you don't melt the clothes like you can with normal irons, weird!

Give it 10 mins to fully heat up

Pwsimerimew · 26/04/2010 13:20

Does it take less time than an iron?

kittywise · 26/04/2010 13:38

I would say half the time, if not more!

Pwsimerimew · 26/04/2010 13:51

I've had one for years too. Mine is an Elna press. I love it! I've never really got the hang of shirts on it although I belive they can be done with practise; but it ploughs through everything else and gives a great result.

Shaz10 · 26/04/2010 14:46

I might have to get one. I could be like Bea in Prisoner Cell Block H!

BendyBob · 26/04/2010 17:17

Rofl..Shaz that's what my dh calls me when I use mine!

Pwsimerimew · 04/05/2010 21:03

Set it up on a nice big table and there is room for a laptop next to it so you can MN while you iron

jenduff · 05/05/2010 13:38

oh and you can fold things up so you can press several layers at a time if you do sheets and the like

Pwsimerimew · 05/05/2010 15:48

It'll be like a chinese laundry here!!!!!!!!!!!!!
