Please help me and tell me there is a solution to this.

My Mum bought me new carpet for my bredroom.

Thanks to my 2 year old there is a huge amount of foundation about the size of a small dinner plate on it.

What stain removers will help? I really want to cry - less than one month old and ruined!

Oh, and on my new duvet cover too, which I felt obliged to buy after having a new carpet.

Please help... x

Hang on, I will look for you.

I have no idea on what would remove it, but if all else fails do you have contents insurance that would replace the carpet? ..... my mate got hers replaced when she stood on a tube of self-tanning lotion and splattered it all over the hall carpet!!

Neat washing up liquid, not too much but rub in, and then flush with water and rinse and repeat.
That should remove it.

DD did this when she was around two too.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 20/04/2010 16:41

just for now - put a clean white towel or plain kitchen paper on it and blot.

MaryBS · 20/04/2010 16:41

Try oxiclean?

MaryBS · 20/04/2010 16:42

Also advice here

Doodleydoo · 20/04/2010 16:44

I don't know if it will help but saw Kim and Aggie yesterday and they were suggesting spraying warm vinegar and scraping, but would blot firsts will go and have another look at kim and aggie.

scarypoppins · 20/04/2010 16:45

Thanks everyone...

Going to blot, then try fairy liquid, then will have to go to the supermarket later to get some oxiclean or something.

I feel so bad, my Mum bought if for me to cheer me up....it worked until now..now I'm crying like a baby! Pathetic!

Thanks again..will let you know..x

Have blotted for now.

Have also just looked at MaryBS link, says hydrogen peroxide 3% - where would i get that from? Is it something you can get at the chemist?

Also you think a carpet cleaning company would deal with make-up stains?

I think you can get it at the chemist. I must admit I have used contact lens solution (mine is dilute hydrogen peroxide, although not all are) for getting rid of stains.

ds (ASD) covered dd best fluffy teddy and all her bedding in make-up last week. I used Astonish spray as it was all I had in and with the school holidays couldn't face a trip to the shops and it came clean.

lucykate · 21/04/2010 00:03

be careful using hydrogen peroxide, it is a powerful bleaching agent. is the carpet a deep colour or pale?, if it's a deep colour, i wouldn't use hydrogen peroxide as even a very weak solution may result in some colour loss, if it's pale, it may work as it will lighten the stain. foundation is greasy, i would just stick to plain soap and water to remove it. but before you do anything other than just blot the stain, read up on the care instructions for the carpet. is it scotchguarded at all?
