If you have a Neff oven does the door get boiling hot?

Hi there,
I just bought a new Neff oven (Series 1 B14420ngb) to replace my broken 12 year old Neff oven. I specifically replaced it with the equivalent model available now because the old door never got too hot and was safe for my 2 year old.

The new ovens door gets scary hot - I cant use it when my 2 year old is in the kitchen.

I wondered if any mumsnetters have Neff ovens with extremely hot doors?

After 2 hours of speaking with customer services and neff I have been told that it is 'normal' for the door to be hot!!!
I have only had it for 3 weeks so I am hoping to get the matter resolved with a bit of a fight.

I hope I don't sound totally mad. I know there are oven guards available but I am just curious to know if as a rule neff ovens have very hot doors. I have googled it and nothing came back.....

Many thanks for reading

Hello, I have a Neff oven (less than a year old) and the door doesn't get hot. I think you need to get them out as that can't possibly be correct. It seems very unsafe to me.

Hi spur. I have a Neff oven. The glass part of the oven door does get very hot yes, but not the handle. Have had my oven for 5 years and it's always been that way!

I always hang 2 pairs of oven gloves over the handle so that if the DCs go near it they won't get burnt!

I had my Neff oven for 5 years and it was fine until recently when the computer bit that controlled the thermostat went on the blink - sometimes the oven would get incredibly hot including the door and even the knobs - my daughter got a burn off the oven gloves she'd been using!

Neff were spectacularly unhelpful, by the way - in the end I had to replace the oven (couldn't afford another Neff) but could ahev paid less for a new single oven than the cost of their 'care' scheme!

Thank you so much for your replies!

Thats very helpful. I agree Tanga Neff have been useless so far. They told me I should have bought a more expensive model as mine is one of the cheaper ones apparently!

I asked if the more expensive ranges doors were cooler and they did not know and there was no one that I could ask!

Its very bizarre.

OkieCokie could you tell me which oven you have - I may be able to negotiate a swap if I am lucky.

We have a Neff, the glass gets very hot as well -- good luck negotiating for a swap, if you don't succeed I think Mothercare sell an oven screen-type thing!

spur - meant to say before, it's only the top half of the oven door that gets burning hot, the bottom half is generally okay.

Hope you get your oven sorted soon!
