How does one remove nasty yellow sweat stains (shame) from one's rather lovely and very favourite white shirt?

Have you tried washing it with a couple of soluble asprins?

mrslurkalot · 12/04/2010 00:00

No I haven't! Do you just put them in with the washing liquid?

Oh I am being thick. Bet you have to hand wash with them?

just pop them in the draw. They work on mild stains on cotton, you will have to wash it again though as the asprin makes them smell odd. If it doesn't work try vanish.

biotex? My mum always had loads of that. I think. And a hard block of something as well that she wiped on stains.

In a bleach solution.

apparently vodka

nomorecake · 12/04/2010 00:39

washing up liquid and scrub with brush, maybe.

Alicetheinvisible · 12/04/2010 08:50

Hang it out in the sun, will help bleach it, especially if you have tried another of the suggsetions first

A really good soak in Napisan works wonders. Make a paste with it and apply to the worst bits, and soak as per the instructions.

To keep the marks from coming back, put some Napisan in each white wash

ppeatfruit · 12/04/2010 12:08

I know that white vinegar soaked with v. hot water removes sweat smells and grease stains, not totally sure about marks though it's worth a try!

I know the vanish for white clothings works wonder. This includes fresh raspberry sauce and tomato sauce. I usually presoak the clothes (tablecloth and napkins in my case) for 6 hours then wash them in normal cycle with soap powder and vanish as well. Seems to remove the food stains nicely .

Thanks all, hopefully I will be yucky stain free soon!
