Yes - storage. Does anyone have the Ikea Trofast system thingy - thinking of purchasing and wanted to know if it works well or is a bit pants - any ideas thoughts comments (and alternatives!) all appreciated.

I have it and its lovely

So easy to tidy up as there is a box for everything
eg Power Ranger box, Transformer box, car box etc etc

The boxes slide easily in and out and they are fairly easy to assemble- I did them alone as a single mum with just a 4 year old to hinder help

I have both the pine and white, and personally find the white a bit smoother- it has plastic runners where the pine has grooves cut in, so the pine is easier to assemble as you dont have to attach runners

Also bear in mind the white is wider as the trays/ boxes go sideways where the pine is narrower cos the boxes go longways in if that makes sense?

I can talk about Trofast for weeks, so any questions ask away

ooh thanks for responding!! I quite liked the pine look!
Have you fixed your to the wall? What combo do you have/recommend? Do you use it in the living room or childrens rooms?

Hiya

OK, I have the pine stepped one and the wardrobe & chest of drawers in pine in the bedroom and I have the white in the cupboard under stairs- I have 3 of them in the one that is 6 high and I have a variety of single trays, doubles and a couple of treble ones.

I havent bothered to fix to the wall, as I have nothing higher than 3 foot ish type height-

So in bedroom I have this for toys www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S09856277

and downstairs I have 3 of these white frames

Happy to take some photos if it would help you, but I can honestly say they were a HUGE huge part of getting my house sorted and the almost tidy state it now is.

Cant praise them enough

Just keep in mind that you can do almost anything with it- like I have the low wardrobe and chest of drawers but as he gets older I can make it full height. Also the frame I linked to can be added to the stepped one as can the higher one, so there are lots of possibilities.
The stepped one is very attractive and nice if you have the space, but does sort of waste space- I originally bought it for my cupboard under stairs as it has a sloping roof, but foolishly bought it in the pine and the cupboard wasnt deep enough to get the draws in and out properly and so it was just plain annoying so eventually I just bit the bullet and swapped the upstairs and downstairs round and am so chuffed I did. DS really likes how the stepped one looks in his room and so far has resisted climbing it ...
