Help please - how *do* you get chewing gum off clothing? I have tried putting it in the freezer and it hasn't worked

I think it may be bubble gum, it;s a nasty yellow shade, on a wool/acrylic jumper and a pair of velvet trousers. I don't want to have to bin either garment.
Thanks.

lighter fluid (petrol stuff) which although it's a bit greasy as you use it, evaporates away nicely afterwards & then you can wash.

get it from tobacconist/supermarket cig kiosk (usual brand is Swan, like the matches)

DD came home yesterday with bubblegum on her school skirt. Picked it up from a lab bench and had picked most of it off by the time I got home. Tried freezing, lighter fuel and vinegar to no avail. BUT then thought I'd give it the Persil test and put Persil bio directly on to the stained areas and then washed in 40 degree wash with Vanish. Hey presto ....... perfect skirt again.
