Stupid question about "handwashing"

I know I should know the answer to this question but I dont I did search through previous threads but I got 500+ all about washing your hands which wasn't really what I was after.....

I've amassed a nice little pile of dirty 'handwash' only items, mostly silk or wool. Using the handwash cycle on my washing machine, can I mix lights with darks or do I have to do separate loads?

Thanks in advance laundry gurus

You need to separate them, just like you would for any other washing

I would separate them. Treat it like any other wash, its a PITA but avoids accidental colour runs.

Phew, glad I asked...!

I was thinking because it is a gentle cycle using cold water, the colour wouldn't run.

Now, that doesn't seem remotely logical now I have written it down but in my head it really seemed sensible.

Thank you
