Messy Disorganised Bedroom

Help,
My bedroom is a disaster zone! has been since we moved in six months ago. Initially the mess resulted from no storage for clothing due to a delay with chest of drawers. These have arrived but the mess has stayed.
I am so lacking any motivation to get this done but I can barely open the bedroom door, this door remains closed at all times and so so embarrased when open and friends can see in.

It's like abseiling, it's easier once you have started. Pop on some music and get on with it, it's the best way.

Buy some bin bags.

Fill with anything unworn or unused in the last month.

Take to Charity shop.

Two children make it hard, get started and they want to come help.....

Love the bin bag idea, shame I've only been wearing what has made it to the top of the pile. bored, bored bored with that selection of clothes...

Arrange for the kids to be out of the house, then put the music on and really enjoy yourself. Get all your clothes hangers free ready to hang clothes up on (plus get more if necessary), rather than rooting around for hangers each time. If you can, see it as a treat - like a great big free clothes shop. I find it makes a difference if you hang your clothes up in colour order as you go - they just look so much posher, and it makes a difference.

And then repeat every 3 / 6 months!

Valances are good, if you want to hide things under the bed (temporarily of course )

What you seriously have to do is empty a whole cupboard at a time and only put back in what you really want to keep.

The rest, you need to get rid of, by ebay/charity shop, etc.

Our bedroom is always the worst in the house. It seems to always get the overflow from everywhere else upstairs, as does our dining room downstairs. Door stays closed. LOL

Honestly you just have to start! Thats the hardest bit

Grab the laundry basket and get two loads- put one in and one by the machine, then spend just 15 mins folding and putting away some clean stuff

Then do the same tomorrow -by the weekend you will be able to see your floor for what 45 minutes work?

Have you looked at the Fly threads- there is a new one starting on Thursday, could be just the ticket for you?
