Stinky stinky stinky...

I managed to set fire to a whole roll of kitchen roll (don't ask). The place stinks of smoke and I have just managed to stop the carbon monoxide monitor (so I will probably die now anyway) and the smoke alarm from shrieking.

The extractor fan is on full blast, all the windows are open (brrrr) and I have a million joss sticks a-burning. Is there anythin I can do to get rid of this terrible stink before 'he' gets home and moans?

oh my! i was about to start a similar thread myself!! last night i tried to cook peas without putting any water in the saucepan (don't ask!) and the whole house stinks still! I too have the extractor fan on and all the windows open....

YoginiBikini · 25/03/2010 13:12

oh poor you

mine would just notice the stink of the joss sticks and moan. Blame it on them and tell him you were meditating with a vengeance today

Cook some cakes? Bake bread?
It might not work but at least you'll have some nice food to eat.

Come on... how did you set fire to the kitchen roll?

wahwahwah · 25/03/2010 13:13

He is in a particularly shitty mood today so I just want the stink gone. My mum used to cook eggs in empty pans too (and they explode after a while).

Bake a cake.

Well...

I was making coffee (the proper stuff on the hob) and some spilled. I thought that I had turned off the gas. I had not. I went to mop up the spill. With said kitchen roll. It caught on fire. I dropped it in the sink. I missed the sink and dropped it onto the roll holder. Flambe.

Ooooh. I could try making some more coffee - that has a nice strong smell.

how is it now? i've had windows open all day and it still smells!

cruelladepoppins · 25/03/2010 19:40

"Hello darling, need your help to get rid of this stink. I put the kitchen roll on fire! I managed to put it out, otherwise the whole house would have been up. Any ideas how I can get rid of this awful smell?"

You could have been badly hurt. He should be relieved.

How did it go?

wahwahwah · 26/03/2010 11:39

I could still smell it but fortunately he was coerced into a drink after work and after a few glasses of beer his nose seemed to stop working! Hoorah! I am still suffering from smoke inhalation though. Next time I will just put some eggs on to boil in a teensy bit of water and leave them to burn - that smell over-rides everyhing!

yup, we're still house of stinky here too!

Price's cooks' candles are brilliant for getting rid of smells - they really work. Lakeland sell them so you get the added pleasure of a trip to a Lakeland shop
