Cotton vs polycotton bedding

I'm in need of a new duvet cover. I'm planning on getting a plain white one from John Lewis but I'm wondering whether to go for Egyptian cotton or polycotton. There's no way I'm going to iron my bedding so is cotton going to look horribly creased? The cotton one is almost twice the price so I'm wondering whether it's worth paying more.

I'd go for the polycotton every time - life is too short to iron duvet covers, and creased cotton (especially when new) is not very comfortable IMO.

I do like cotton pillowslips though, don't mind ironing those.

I have the egyptian cotton ones. I don't iron them - the creases drop out vv quickly once the bed is made. I think it's well worth the extra as they last for ages and are very comfortable.

The 100% cotton ones will definitely be more creased but are 100 x more pleasant to sleep in. I find polycotton makes me hotter, slightly more sweaty and therefore more prone to waking up in the night. Makes me itchy too.

Honestly, who cares if your duvet cover is creased? How many people see it?

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll pay a bit extra and go with pure cotton. DP does get a bit sweaty at night so hopefully new duvet cover will help.

If you fold the duvet and sheets wet from the washing machine and leave them for a couple of hours the creases will flatten out then when you hang them they won't even need a glimpse of an iron.

Polycotton is really horrible to sleep in.

Bollocks to the creases anyway. Cover them with a bedspread if you are that bothered.

Ikea actually do excellent cotton bedding that doesn't seem to crease much.

Stuff the creases - if you hang it nicely after wash (tumble drying does mean iron it) then after you've smoothed it beautifully on the bed you'll not notice much

We've got some really textured cotton bed linen from the White Co. which we've had for years but it doesn't really need ironing because of the texture. Seersucker bed linen (such as this) is supposed to also need very little, if any, ironing as it has a sort of crinkly texture anyway.

Cotton is obviously just that bit more breathable than poly/cotton, that's all.

Cotton definitely, but TK Maxx do great bedlinen - top quality and very highly reduced. worth a look.
