Hi there
Getting the oven cleaned professionally is the best money I spend of the year! It's the way forward. Had to get it done once on a rented house and have never looked back.
The man comes in a van. Has a box of tricks. Takes the oven door off and shelves out (and any trays/baking sheets you want to give him (for extra small charge)). Puts the door and shelves into vats of chemicals in the back of his van.
He then attacks the inside of oven with a chisel type of implement and some serious elbow grease. He works up a good sweat. You feel embarrassed and if you're like me, offer him much tea and excuses for why you are a terrible housewife who hasn't cleaned her oven much. He'll clean the hob and extractor fan too if you pay extra. Also replaces oven lights.
After about 30 mins he puts it all back together and it looks like its brand new! Totally worth it. My oven bloke has a wife and kids so understands how ovens get neglected! I think it cost £38 or something, completely different clean to anything you can do at home with Mr Muscle. Go for it!

I can only find quotes of about £100, otherwise I'd jump at the chance!

I had my old cooker done too. Same sort of experience as waltonsmountain had but mine cost about £55. When I had a whole new kitchen (in a different room of the house even!!) and therefore new oven, I bought myself the tool that my oven man had from Lakeland and now do it myself, however not sure how long that will last for!!

OK, sorry for optimistic memory of the price! I checked the chequebook stub and it was £48.77 in 2008 (can't find last years). I suppose it's probably gone up since then but not too much, and still worth it I think, for the brilliant job they do.
I'm in the countryside and use a company called The Oven Cleaning Company based in Farnham, Surrey. Think they cover quite a large area...

You can also try www.myovencleaner.co.uk. They recently did my oven for £41. All green products too so no dreadful caustic smells and I used the the oven straight away. They're based in Surrey, but I know they do Middlesex and West Sussex too. Really good and very clean and tidy with it!
