sick on mattress - how to clean

Son has been sick in our bed. I washed it down with a dilute bleach solution but wondered if there's a better way. Do we just need a new mattress?

Yes buy a new mattress, that one will always smell. Then go to Argos and buy one of those matress toppers they are brill. We have them on all our beds and it makes it so much easier to clean if the DC's are sick or have nosebleeds etc.

I'd get a bowl of warm water, add some washing up liquid and a few spoonfuls of bicarbonate of soda, wash it well, tghen lay mattress down, cover with towels and walk/run/jump up and down on it to soak up most moisture, then stand it on it's side to dry.
