Hi all,

Please can someone help get rid of this stain. I took the bin bag out and put it on the lino floor last night (it was raining so was lazy ) Picked it up this morning and there is a big green stain underneath!!!!!! I tried to wipe it up but nope, then saw i was staining where i had moved the bag to so ran it outside to the big bin. Anyways the 2nd stain just about came off with a good old scrub with 'multi-action wipes'. But the big overnight stain wont go.

This is what i have tried ;-
Water - yep i wish
Multi-action wipes - nothing
Cif Cream - Left it for 5 mins. Went a foamy green colour and dyed my cloth green!
Dettol All in 1 Spray - Left for 5 mins then started scrubbing. It did shift 1/4 of it, but had to really really scrub. The other 3/4 just wont go. Where i have been scrubbing so hard i have started to lighten my lino!!
Thin Bleach - Left for 5 mins. Did nothing but made my house smell.

I just dont know what to try now???? All sugggestions very much welcome

Thank you in advance

Where is the green coming from? Is it a green bin bag or something leaking out?

99PlsAdvise · 20/03/2010 13:34

It was a black bin bag with something green leaking out but i cant think what it could be Its not anything thick. Didnt think to look in the bag - just wanted to get it in the outside bin, didnt think it would stain this bad.

Wiped up the spray now. Just not coming off

Do you have any Vanish? I've gotten stains out by covering them with a paste of vanish and leaving for an hour or so.Or nail varnish remover but test on a tiny spot first,in case it damages the lino.

Good luck.

Without knowing what the stain is from, hard to know how best to remove it. I once found that something in our washing (probably something I'd dyed) had stained our radiator and bizarrely, toothpaste left on for a while and then wiped off removed it. No idea what prompted me to try toothpaste! But might be worth a try (but again, do small area just in case it makes things worse...). It was the white type of toothpaste, in case you wonder (ie not a gel type).

I had a stain from spilled candle wax in the bathroom, on lino. I had scrubbed away at it for a year, and never got to make it go totally away. I bought an H20 floor steamer in December, and after using it twice in the bathroom the stain is completely gone.

So glad, as it was near the toilet base and looked like urine on the floor. Lemon candle on back of toilet tank that spilled hot wax when I picked it up to blow out the candle.

Any luck?

Astonish multi purpose orange cleaning paste (at lakeland and I think some supermarkets)
is good for all kinds of stains it even cleaned spray paint off our car!

Go careful though as it is an abrasive cleaner.
It's only £1.50 so might be worth a try.

Had a similar problem once and had success treating it like a rust stain - covered generously with salt, cut a lemon and squeeze lemon juice over it and let sit. Much of the stain soaked up into the salt. After an hour, remove most of salt and scrub the remaining salt with the other half of the lemon. No idea why this worked but it did! Good luck.
