Does anyone know where to get those huge sail type sunshades for the garden?

I am sure I have seen them a couple of years ago, they are like a giant boat sail, but you hang them up between the trees to make a shaded area.

We have trees but not in strategic places for providing shade, therefore one of these would seem a very good idea.

Does anyone know what I'm on about?

The bell tent people do them [searches for a link] is this what you mean?

You can get them at Habitat and Crocus. Try googling sunshade as there are lots of outlets. I think Coolaroo and Kookaburra are the brands that withstand the weather so you can leave them outside

Omni - I think those tent ones are for pitching rather than attaching to a house.

Another good thing to use is greehouse sunshine netting, as the wind and rain go straight through it but it diffuses the sun.

Oh thankyou veyr much for the ideas!
Will check habitat,

i found some at shadesails uk, which look very anti UV and durable, so will think about those too.

I did get a tent awning from argos but I'm not sure if it actually stops UV getting through - probably not - but might attach it to the top bar of the swing or something, as a bit of extra shade anyway.
