Good afternoon,

so, while dh and ds are at mils, I am going to go through this flat and get it sorted. Ds will be one in a few weeks, we live in 1 bed flat so I need some space saving ideas.

Also im not sure what I should be throwing away. I have all his baby clothes still, some will be going to my nephew but I want to keep some.

We just live in a tip and I have to get it sorted so any tips on how to do this would be fab.

TIA

No idea as I live in chaos. But I would imagine starting with one room and going through bit by bit throwing everything into piles of bin, charity, mend or put away would be a start.

Don't be overly sentimental. Choose one or two baby outfits and no more...you will have photographed him 349 times in every outfit as he is your pfb!

Seriously, if you are living in a one bedroom flat you just have to be ruthless. Fill as many bags as you can and take them to the charity shop or nephew tomorrow (ie don't hang about). Ditch anything broken or stained or with pieces missing. Do the same for the adult clothes too.

Good luck
start in one room and finish that before you move on to another

If you're sentimental, ring your local Red Cross depot and see if they have any refugee families with babies in your area. I took some stuff to ours the other day and the woman told me that they have ten families with babies living in one room each and they have literally nothing. They try to ensure that the family has a cot or moses basket but they are often just sitting on the floor and have no toys/hardly any baby clothes.

I felt so awful when I heard that that I had a good clearout of our baby things and now if I get sentimental, I think of them being used by an actual needy baby rather than festering in our loft for 30 years until I try and inflict them on a future DIL

I have been known to clear things out and claim its actually at mums / dads house for when the dc's visit them .

Just imagine that bin bag of clothes going to charity and someone who needs it or car boot / NCT sale it if you want to raise some money.

I can see me being one of those mother in laws trying to pass on 30 year old clothes!

Will have a phone around and see what I can find. They have to go though for sure!
