Can I machine wash Angora?

Borrowed an Angora (70%) and Nylon (30%) Monsoon cardi off a friend and need to give it back. Can I put it in the washing machine on a 'Machine Wash Wool' or 'Hand wash' programme? Or will I ruin it?
Have already got wool detergent.

Label says 'Hand wash seperately'!

Anyone risked it before?

Although there is a bit of nylon in it, please don't machine wash the cardi as it may felt or shrink.

Wash in barely hand hot water - a small capful of wool detergent then leave it to soak for about 5 minutes and very gently swish the cardi in the water.

Rinse twice in handhot water and do a final rinse with a little hair conditioner.

Squeeze out as much water as you can but don't wring it.

Dry on a flat surface and then iron on wool setting.

Thanks very much.

I washed it as per your instructions and it looks fine. So glad I didn't stick it in the machine - i don't think it would have survived!!

My mother in law years ago showed me how to get the water out of hand washed delicate jumpers.

After squeezing very gently, lay it out on a bath towel, roll it up and just squash along the roll, again gently. Repeat with another towel if needed.

I have felted a few nice jumpers over the years, hoping the washing machine will work. I wont risk it now.

I do the towel squeeze as well.
