How much do you need to spend on a washing machine for it not to be totaly rubbish?

My washing machine has stopped working. I have a guy coming out tomorrow but am in total panic that it's not going to be fixable, or will cost so much to fix it's not worth it.

It's a 9 yr old Zanussi washer/drier and has never needed a repair in all this time.

There's just two of us, I wash 3 loads a week, occasionally more.

I can't afford what I currently have but new, and will be looking for as cheap as possible, but will last a few years.
What brand and price range should I be looking at?

Ours only cost about £220 - it was the cheapest that curry's had in stock and we could walk away with.

I do shed loads of washing (4 loads today) and it's been going well for about 3 years.

I would go to Which?, sign up for a free trial and read all their washing machine reviews. Then cancel your trial.
