New mattress - what sort?

I have finally given up on my old mattress and decided to get a new one. I'm looking to spend up to £350ish and don't want a memory foam as I can't bear the memory foam pillows and don't think I'd like a mattress like that

Does anyone have any ideas for good brands or types to go for?

was going to recommend memory foam but then noticed that you didn't like the idea!
silent night and sealy are both good brands
oh and avoid buying from dreams as their reputation for customer service and actual delivery times is shocking
