Is it just me that doesn't like drying washing outside at the moment because it's too cold?

I find that if you put stuff outside on the line when it is this cold it comes in smelling horrible. Is it just me? AIBU?

dunno if YABU or not, but I find that it smells better for being outside and even though the weather is cold, a quick blast on the radiator or in the drier finishes it off much quicker than if you started off wet straight out of the machine.
Suppose it depends if you like the "outside" smell instead of perfume from soap powder/fabric softner smell!

I put mine out for the first time this year yesterday. I was surprised at how much of it dried fully.

I've been hanging mine out for the past few days.

There's nothing like the smell of line dried washing. I love it. It dries very quickly too. Not today mind as it looks like the heavens are going to open

I prefer drying stuff outside but am still using radiators at the moment because it is not really warm enough and rain unpredictable.

I do put things outside though in whatever weather if they are stained as it gets most things out, especially food stains/baby poo.

I couldn't care less about the smell if I can't feel my fingers. I don't believe there is a worse feeling, bar standing on a slug in bare feet, than being slapped in the face by a wet towel being lashed by the wind on a cold morning.

I have dried all mine outside today

bronze · 14/03/2010 14:35

the only problem with the coldness is hanging out wet stuff and getting cold hands

I miss my garden I have got a tiny paved yard now - hopefully will be able to get a washing line up there, but don't really get any sun on it so it probably won't be much use anyway.
