Can I attach a Billy bookcase to a stud/plasterboard wall?

Has anyone managed this? Would it bring the wall down?

Yes, I have done this lots of times. I have also used those 'command' velcro type things when we rented and weren't allowed to attatch anything to the wall.

My feeling is that you would need the book case to be standing on the floor to take the weight of the books and then put screws through teh book case into the underlying frame behind the stud wall.

The only reason you need the book case to be attached to the wall at all is to stop it tipping forward away from the wall not to take the full weight of the books.

Yes, using the screw in type plasterboard rawl plugs and just screwing through the book case
