My hoover smells...

I've noticed recently that after hoovering there's a lingering smell of sick in the house. The hoover is about 5 years old and I've changed filters etc. in the last year. I've heard of 'hoover deodorants' but is there a better way to get rid of the smell? And where does it come from in the first place?

And before you ask, I've never hoovered up sick

You need to take it apart and wash it with a mild bleach solution. The smell is bacteria. It's probably in the tube/bag.

Thanks Bonsoir - so I wash the whole thing? Bit worried about messing up the electrics inside.

Have you got the instruction booklet? Or, failing that, can you look it up on the internet.

There is nothing unusual about having to wash your hoover from time to time though of course you must be careful of the motor. But that should be sealed.

Will have a look, I know the booklet must be somewhere. Thanks again.
